1st. century CE green jade carving in shape of a chilong on an elongated bi disk. A hydra is located on the distal part of the disk. C scrolls decorate the reverse side of the disk. The space below the chilong's head appears as a central perforation for suspension as a pendant. This is a high quality of jade carving of Han period, done in green jade in high relief with great details. Length: 3.1" (8 cm.). Provenance: Dr. Veleanu's jade collection, the author of the collectors' book: "Jade, 5000 BC to 1912 AD, Guide to collectors". Estimated retail value: $2800.
