1st. century CE green jade carving in shape of a dragon on a bi disk with a cover shield decorated with a tao tieh mask. The shield has a central perforation for suspension as a pendant. The reverse side of the bi is decorated with 3 C scrolls. This is a high quality of jade carving of Han period, done in green jade in high relief with great details. Length: 2.7" (6.5 cm.). Provenance: Dr. Veleanu's jade collection, the author of the collectors' book: "Jade, 5000 BC to 1912 AD, Guide to collectors". Estimated retail value: $1800.
