Hall-North model 1843 percussion carbine rifled to .58 cal., 21” barrel, even dark patina, overall very good wood stock with very good inspector cartouches on both sides and “BECS” stamped in three places; action is good, initials “D.A.” carved into bottom of butt stock; some scattered areas of pitting; markings in metal mostly visible, top of breech shows U.S., S. North, MIDLtn 1848 standard address; saddle ring and bar retained; one of 5,000 originally manufactured in 1844 by North as .52 cal. smoothbore that were subsequently converted to .58 rifled by W.W. Marston in 1861 for use in the Civil War. Est.: $1,500-$3,000.
