Half-stock percussion Plains Rifle of Indian trade style marked Deringer, Philadelphia on lock and barrel. The rifle measures 51” over all with 34 ¾” octagon barrel , approximately .44 caliber rifled of mediumweight and measures nearly ¾ of an inch across the flights of the barrel. The rifle remains in very good plus to near fine original condition showing 30% to 50% of original brown finish on barrel with somescattered light erosion and pinprick pitting just starting in a few small areas. The lock plate shows considerable original gray case hardening. The balance of the metal has drifted to a natural patina. The rifle showsa large Rocky Mountain style Buckhorn sight mounted in the original sight dovetail. The front sight is a standard blade type. The stock shows 30% to 50% original varnish and is at least very good. The rifle is brassmounted with one barrel key. The mounts show a light patina. The rifle is also equipped with double set triggers and the action works well but hammer notch is worn and hammer will fly off full cock. An old period slotted
