Comic strips, including "Scorchy Smith", "Brick Bradford", and "Skyroads" leapt into quench reader demand, but the first, and according to many the best, was "Tailspin Tommy". Written by Glenn Chaffin and illustrated by Hal Forrest, "Tommy" was a rip-roaring adventure yarn that spawned several reprint books, a radio series, a dozen Big Little Books, and even a movie serial. The strip offered here is in good condition and measures approximately 23" x 29.5" overall. The title stats suffer from some slight discoloration, and this piece is separated approximately 8" from the left side and 5" from the right side at the center fold line. These are minor concerns, however, when considering the overall beauty of this spectacular item. A true piece of comic history, this is a gem worthy of the finest collection. <B>Estimate: $500-up</B> </FONT></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><BR><!--<a name="PricesRealized"></a> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" bgcolor="#000000"> <tr> <td width="100%"> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="3"> <tr> <td width="100%" bgcolor="#79735C"> <a name="PR"> <font face="arial" size="3" color="#FFFFFF"> <b>Previous Prices from Heritage Auctions</b> </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#F6F6ED"> No Prior Data Recorded </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> <font face="arial" size="1""> PLEASE NOTE: All prices realized reflect the final hammer price PLUS the buyer's premium in auctions that charge a buyer's premium.
