Philome Obin (Bas Limbe: 1892-1986), Patriarch of the Obin Family and originator of the very stylized Cap Haitien art style in Haiti is one of the very few top artists in Haitian Art History. He is considered by many along with Hippolite, Benoit, and Bazile to be the best from Haiti, especially in that wonderful use of colors and the charming naive qualities that gained Haitian Art a worldwide following. Philome Obin is much sought after and in many museums and private collections. Such celebrites as Jacquenlien Kennedy Onasis bought and kept paintings by Philome Obin. Many in his family paint. He taught and inspired many in his Cap Haitien style that is unmistakeable till today to even the casual Haitian Art enthusiast.
