About the Artist: ANTOINE OBIN. (1929-1998) Antoine Obin. Cap-Haitien 1929-1998. Joined Centre d?art in 1946. The youngest son and pupil of Philome Obin, Antoine Obin began painting seriously at age seventeen. He was trained by his father, and his style is similar to the older man?s. Antoine enjoys depicting amusing episodes or scenes from his own family?s daily life, stressing their close family bonds with pride. Depending on the mood of the story portrayed, his palette can be soft and gentle or strong and warm
