Edger Jean-Baptiste (Jean-Baptiste) one of the unique and great Haitian masters. He is recognized by many, including Jonathan Demme and is actually featured throughout Demme's great exhibt on Haitian art, as well as his famous published collection (Island on Fire) in 1997. This is classic Jean-Baptiste with all its nightmarish qualities, voodoo themes and power of execution. This unique artist's work was limited by failing eyesight that ended his great career much too soon. You will not see many by this artist anywhere. This painting medium is an almost pastel quality oil on board that captures the moon light in the graveyard. It is 22.5" by 17.5" in size. This painting was done in 1972 and purchased by the cartoonist Paul Neuman from the Centre d'Art in that year. It was acquired by the previous collector in 1989. Truly a museum piece! I OFFER discounts to PROVEN museum bidders. Serious bidders ONLY, please. Deadbeat bidders will be legally sought! Good luck bidding! :) I offer a lay-away plan on this item for bidders with at least a 98.5% positive feeback. However, bidders must first ask me and receive my approval to do so.
