This is a early hide scraper with a Buffalo Bone handle and forged gun metal scrapper held together with rawhide strap. The piece was found in the Wood Mountina district from the Hahunkpa Sioux were they settled after the Custer Battle Field from the Battle of the Little Bighorn. The piece shows glass trade beads and a hand formed pipestone bead. Very early piece from circa 1860-1880's. Measures 11.75" long with a 1 1/8" wide scraper.
