Fine copy. € 250/350 In 1647 Hermann Crombach S.J. (Cologne 1598-1680) published a large "biography" of St. Ursula and her 11.000 Virgins, a Cologne tradition, which in 1669 he had to defend against some English church historians. This "Auctarium" contains also a "Paean Parthenius" of the leading Neolatin poet Jacob Balde (1st publ. in 1664, his last publication). Woodcut Jesuit device on title.
