HUYSMANS, Joris-Karl.- La Bièvre. Avec vingt-trois dessins et un autographe de l'auteur. Paris, L. Genonceaux, 1890. In-8° (lég. tache p. 29). Broché (couv. rempliée part. et très lég. brunie sinon très frais).
Première édition dans le commerce et en France, après le tiré à part à une dizaine d'exemplaires, de ce texte paru en français dans la revue hollandaise "De Nieuwe Gids". Illustré de compositions par E. Tanguy, Trimolet, Chauvet, Schroeder... ainsi que de plans de documents anciens reproduits en noir, sauf le frontispice en couleurs.
Huysmans n'était pas content de cet ouvrage dont il détestait l'aquarelle du frontispice ainsi qu'il le dit crûment dans une de ses lettres. Il s'agit d'un des premiers livres édités par Genonceaux, responsable d'une édition des Chants de Maldoror en 1890, qui souhaitait commencer avec cet ouvrage une série consacrée à des vieux quartiers de Paris, mais elle n'aboutit pas (cfr J.J. Lefrère et J.P. Goujon, Deux malchanceux de la littérature fin de siècle : Jean Larocque et Léon Genonceaux. Tusson, Du Lérot, 1994, p. 57 sq).

After full payment, buyers are kindly requested to take away their purchases immediately after the auction or at the bookshop the next Tuesday after the auction 230 av. Louise, from 2 pm until 6 pm.
Goods will be send only after customers’ payment.
Packing and dispatching are entirely at the buyer’s own expense.
Books whose price exceed 100 (EUR) will be send by registered post.
Payment Details:
Payment will be made in Belgian Francs. We do not accept credit cards neither cheques whose total amount exceed 200 (EUR) or cheques not validated for higher sum.
Terms of sale require buyers to pay immediately for their purchases, which means that lots will be released to them only when full and cleared payment as been received by us
In addition to the hammer price, the buyer has to pay a buyer’s premium of 21%, V.A.T. inclusive, all strictly in cash and in Ero's (EUR)
In case of original art and if the principles of the author’s rights are applicable, an extra 4% must be paid on each hammer price of at least 1250 EUR
All items are assumed to be in good condition unless otherwise stated. Buyers are kindly invited to carry out their own inspection of the lots they want to buy. All items to be auctioned are on view for several days prior to the sale.
Returning an item after the striking of the hammer will not be accepted, whatever the reason put forward. Those items bought on order must be inspected within 8 days after receipt. Any return after this term will be refused.
All items of the catalogue with the mention « n.c. » (non collationné = not inspected) are not subject to return. Neither are those sold in lots (two items or more) works consisting in multiple volumes and periodicals or series.
If you cannot attend the auction, we can execute written bids on your behalf. To ensure a satisfactory service, it is necessary to make arrangements for the services at least one day before the sale.
On every purchase Belgian law only is applicable, and all cases of dispute are exclusively to the competence of the Brussels Chamber.
