HUGE SLIP-MOLDED NEW JERSEY YELLOW WARE PITCHER. An exceptional slip-molded yellow ware pitcher with paneled sides and with high relief vining grapes & leaves, almost certainly manufactured by the Swan Hill Pottery of South Amboy, New Jersey, circa 1850-60. Wonderful split grape vine-type handle, with embossed bunches of grapes, scroll embossed spout with strainer lip, height 10.5," ca. 13.5" from rear of handle to front of spout. Though unmarked, similar, if not identical pitchers in both yellow ware and Rockingham glaze were advertised by the Swan Hill Pottery as "Grape Ice Pitchers" (Branin, 1988:197).
