HSC: The Ultimate Golf Signed Autograph Display P
The Ultimate Golf Autograph Display--Every Masters Winner and Much More! Typed words are an imperfect tool in conveying the magnitude of this piece, an absolutely massive artifact both in terms of the quantity of signatures (well over 400!) and the incredible effort put forth into creating it. It all began several years ago, when our consignor set forth to collect the autographs of every Masters winner, beginning with 1934 winner Horton Smith, to Gene Sarazen the following year, then all the rest including Nelson, Picard, Demaret, Snead, Hogan, Palmer, Player, Nicklaus and so on, all the way up to Phil Mickelson in 2004.

Slowly it grew, from a lithograph picturing Nicklaus, Palmer, Irwin, Kite and Watson, signed in perfect sharpie by each, expanding to encompass endless sharpie signatures filling every inch of the lithograph. Soon more were added, filling yellow mat board that surrounded the initial nucleus of the litho. The consignor traveled far and wide, getting autographs in person at golf courses coast to coast. Tiger Woods actually signed for him in person, and later the collector added an Upper Deck autographed card, bringing the Tiger total of this piece to two. Payne Stewart signed before his tragic demise, on a Pinehurst scorecard. Every active player he could reach, he convinced to sign. Those he couldn't reach, he tracked down through reputable sources, making certain PSA/DNA had blessed the signatures. Bobby Jones appears in 10/10 blue ink on the title page of his book "Golf is My Game." The consignor removed the page from the book for display, but includes the rest of the book in the shadowbox display, giving the piece physical, rather than just historical, depth. Walter Hagen appears in the same way as Jones, a page removed from his autobiography. The incredibly tough Craig Wood is here on a 4/10 pencil cut. Claude Harmon is in fine ink on his own album page. Horton Smith appears on the return address of a letter mailed by the first Masters Champ. Ben Hogan is on a personal check. Sarazen appears on a couple of first day covers that span the perimeter of this massive piece. Programs and golf course passes are scattered everywhere, all coated with perfect sharpie signatures.

When the weather grew cold and the autograph hunt slowed, our consignor went hunting in different ways, adding a high-grade 1933 Bobby Jones Sport Kings card, an EX-MT specimen worth thousands on its own. Lesser cards from this issue appear for Hagen and Sarazen as well. It's just a massive, amazing collage of a piece, all housed in a shadow box measuring a titanic 53x102" in size. Yes, that's correct. It's eight and a half feet wide! This incredible piece is certainly not for the faint of heart, or those lacking in wall space. We could picture it taking up a place of honor in a country club, an office building, a fine home. Those who have ever considered collecting golf autographs could purchase this single piece and be content in the knowledge that his or her work is done. There simply are no more autographs to add. Even Tom Watson's beloved and recently deceased caddy Bruce Edwards is here! It's a piece that needs to be seen to be believed! As a final labor of love by our consignor, all four hundred-plus autographs are identified in typed lists affixed to the back of the piece.

And as if this all weren't enough, there are even two separate framed companion pieces we're throwing in--we can't forget the ladies, after all. First we have an LPGA flag signed by twenty in perfect black sharpie. Sorenstam is the big name here. Then we've also got an UDA authenticated "Colonial" flag signed by Sorenstam alone. Both pieces are professional framed, to 22x29" and 28x35" respectively. Please note: due to the size and weight of this lot, the cost of shipping may be substantial.
