HSC: 1971 Muhammad Ali vs. Frazier I Official Pro
1971 Ali vs. Frazier I Official Program. On March 7, 1971 Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier met in the fight that was proclaimed as the "Battle Of Champions," in New York's famed Madison Square Garden. Ali, back from a forced retirement, entered the ring undefeated and was determined to reclaim his World Heavyweight crown from the man who presently wore it, Joe Frazier. It would, however, prove to be Frazier's night. Frazier dominated the closing rounds of the otherwise close contest and punctuated his performance by knocking Ali down in the fifteenth and final round. When the scorecards were read, "Smokin Joe" was awarded a fifteen-round unanimous decision. Presented here is a scarce official program to this event, complete with fifty-two pages, containing biographies and photos of both fighters. This program is in fine condition with no center crease, clean inside and out, and is unscored. A fine example of a scarce and desirable program.
