HSC: 1966 Phil Regan Game Worn LA Dodgers Jersey
1966 Phil Regan Game Worn Jersey. Beautiful home white flannel was intended for use by back-up catcher Hector Valle, but was instead issued to top closer Phil Regan, who earned the nickname "The Vulture" for his ability to finish off teams already on the brink of death due to the talents of starters Koufax (in his Cy Young season in '66), Drysdale and Sutton. In fact, Regan's 1966 campaign earned him serious M.V.P. consideration, with League-leading numbers in winning percentage, saves and games finished, so it's clear that this jersey received a heaping helping of ovations at Dodger Stadium. Classic "Dodgers 27" is sewn in blue and red felt to chest, with "27" repeated on verso. Embroidered swatch for intended owner "Valle" sits above "Tim McAuliffe, Inc." label, "'66" year and "44" size tags. Wear is clearly evident, and some very mild staining does very little to detract from eye appeal. A pennant season jersey from the League's top closer, who played the rescuing hero for some of the game's legendary hurlers. LOA from Dan Knoll & Dave Bushing/ SCD Authentic.
