HSC: 1964 Cassius Clay vs. Liston I Official Prog
1964 Clay vs. Liston I Official Program. On February 25, 1964, World Heavyweight Champion Sonny Liston defended his title against a brash young upstart from Louisville, Kentucky named Cassius Clay. Clay was a heavy underdog going into the fight, but his speed and boxing skill proved the undoing of the aging and slower Liston. Liston, after taking heavy punishment, quit on his stool in the seventh round claiming to have suffered a shoulder injury, and Cassius was crowned the new Heavyweight Champ. Presented here is a scarce official program to this event. This program contains sixteen pages and is in excellent condition. Its clean, crisp pages remain unscored and there's only slight creases at the corners, light foxing and one small tear on the bottom border of the cover. A fine example of an increasingly difficult program to find, especially in this condition. LOA from Craig Hamilton/ JO Sports.
