HSC: 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers Team Signed Baseball P
1955 Brooklyn Dodgers Team Signed Baseball. It's the great David and Goliath story in baseball. The Yankees represented the white collar crowd--bankers, lawyers and captains of industry--fittingly clad in stuffy pinstripes. The Dodgers were "the Bums," championing the downtrodden working class in this "lesser borough" of New York, and always coming up a little short in October. But after falling to the Yanks in 1941, 1947, 1949, 1952 and 1953, "Next Year" finally came on October 4, 1955, when Johnny Podres pitched the lovable losers to a shutout victory in Game Seven to bring the first ever World Championship to the Ebbets faithful. Offered here is the ball that no Dodger lover or Yankee hater could bear to live without, featuring twenty-five blue ink signatures from the true "Boys of Summer." All your favorites are here: Jackie, Campy, Pee Wee, Koufax, Podres, Hodges, Newcombe, Furillo, Alston, and the key Frank Kellert, whose single season of Brooklyn service ensures 1955 vintage. And while knowledgeable collectors know that 1950's Dodgers balls are typically plagued with clubhouse autographs, only Snider and Loes are ghost signed here, and both are still available to sign today should the winning bidder wish to tack them on. The "Official League Ball" shows light and even toning, and the autographs range from entirely legible 6/10 to 8/10 in quality. A highly desirable representation of this essential sphere. LOA from Steve Grad & Zach Rullo/ PSA DNA.
