HSC: 1937 Joe Louis vs. Braddock Souvenir Pennant
1937 Louis vs. Braddock Souvenir Pennant. On June 22, 1937, World Heavyweight Champion James J. Braddock defended his title against the "Brown Bomber" Joe Louis, at Comiskey Park in Chicago. Braddock, the "Cinderella Man," came in as the underdog but gave Louis a tough go early on, knocking him down with a sharp upper cut in round one. The younger Louis was able to rally though and eventually stopped the game Braddock during the eighth round to win the title. Presented here is a very scarce souvenir pennant to this event. The pennant is twenty-nine inches long and made of navy blue felt with gold lettering that reads, "I Was There Louis vs Braddock Chicago June 22nd 1937." In excellent condition with only light wear and slight fading. A wonderful example. LOA from Craig Hamilton/ JO Sports.
