1937 Cincinnati Reds Team Signed Autograph & Photograph Album. It will be difficult to do this piece justice in text and images, due both to its rather extensive holdings and to the charming appeal of the album that couldn't be fully appreciated without experiencing it first hand. In its simplest terms, this well-worn album was constructed by a fan that took individual snapshots (2.75x4") of the Reds in uniform, posing pre-game, and then returned at a later date with those photographs glued into this album where they were signed by the team. Many have signed on the photographs themselves, and others have signed in the space beside their photos. Multiple autographs from each player seem to be the norm. Highlights include the amazing Ki Ki Cuyler page(s), which has a perfect blue ink signature on the snapshot, then two more framing the photo at top and bottom. Chick Hafey's page has one signature on the snapshot, and one to the side. Ernie Lombardi signs only his image on his page, though his autograph does turn up on another page as well. Johnny Vander Meer signs off of his image, which pictures him below the new-fangled light towers that brought Major League Baseball into the night for the first time just two seasons earlier. Other signed snapshots: Grissom, Bill Myers, Kampouris (two photos), Joost, Cascarella (two photos), McCormick, Riggs (two photos), Derringer. Many times additional signatures from these players are found beside the photos as well. Dozens more signatures are applied directly to paper, with or without accompanying photographs, with notables including Dressen, Red Barber, Carl Hubbell, Bill Terry, Edd Roush, Charlie Root and many more. Several pages have come loose from the binding, and the cover is missing, but the individual pages and the photos and signatures they contain remain in marvelous shape. Once again, this piece must be seen to be fully understood and appreciated. LOA from Steve Grad & Zach Rullo/ PSA DNA.
