HSC: 1929 Phila. Athletics Signed Baseball PSA/DN
1929 Philadelphia Athletics Team Signed Baseball. Connie Mack had been on top of the world in 1914, having captured the American League flag for the fourth time in five seasons. But then the bottom dropped out. The arrival of the Federal League created a sudden spike in players' asking prices, and Mack's Championship squad was scattered to the wind when he couldn't compete financially. Suddenly, in a single season, he dropped to the bottom of the League, remaining a lost cause for over a decade before finally clawing his way back to the top. This OAL (Barnard) ball represents the team that finally reclaimed World Championship glory for the City of Brotherly Love, offering thirteen exceptional vintage signatures. While Lefty Grove is the only Hall of Famer from this important team to sign, the absence of Foxx, Cochrane and Mack is partially offset by names like Schang, Walberg, O'Doul, Miller, Whitehill and "Red" Kress. You certainly won't see too many 1920's signed baseballs that present as well as this NRMT orb. LOA from Steve Grad & Zach Rullo/ PSA DNA.
