HSC: 1926 Cleveland Indians Team Panoramic Photog
1926 Cleveland Indians Team Panoramic Photograph. The Tribe couldn't catch the Babe's pinstriped crew this season, coming up three games short in the American League pennant race, but even challenging the Yankees in the 1920's was a victory in itself. This exceptional photograph of the powerhouse Cleveland ballclub is simply one of the finest we've seen from the decade, with barely a hint of wear to suggest nearly eight decades of life. Equally impressive is the roster it pictures, with Hall of Famers Joe Sewell and Tris Speaker heading up a cast of characters including win-leader George Uhle, Luke Sewell, Homer Summa and Emil Levsen. Each player is identified by surname and position beneath his respective image, and "The Cleveland Base Ball Club 1926" hovers above the crowd. Photo measures 7x32.5", and is matted and framed to overall dimensions of 14x40". Appearance is EX-MT, with just a few very minor wrinkles that are only visible at certain angles to the light. This fine piece almost certainly derives from the estate of a ballplayer or front office worker, as these photographs were never made available to the public.
