John Warren, 1821FIRST EDITION, with 3 hand-coloured lithographed plates, pages vi, (2), 168, complete with the half-title and the advert leaf, large 12mo, with very light suggestion of foxing in places, but still a very good to nice copy, neatly bound in recent cloth, all edges uncut, with the neat contemporary signature of R. H. F. Butler. Based upon her experiences during a four-year residence (1816-20), with her children, in the Crimean village of Karagoss, describing the people, marriage and other customs, social conditions, hunting practices, building styles, etc. "Objective, factual and thorough . . . with a clear and unprejudiced eye, telling us much about the land and its people but nothing about herself" - Robinson 240".ALSO WITH THIS LOT: (1) SHKLOVSKY ( Isaak V. ).
