Made famous by the Hoi An California auction at Butterfields in 2000, this is one of the nicest standard bowls from that recovery in Vietnam. Those bowls with animal designs such as Birds and Fish are scarcer and more desirable than just floral patterns, as the animals ALSO have the floral around the cavetto. Perfect, with rich color, a bold Bird design, good glaze and the brown bottom (with traces of sea encrustation that can easily be cleaned off with Lemon Juice) characterize this desirable 9-1/2" across and 2-1/4" tall porcelain bowl. Documentation accompanies this lot.
