HITLER YOUTH RACIAL IDENTIFICATION POSTERS AND CORRESPONDING 1935 HANDBOOK
Teaching aids used to further "race classification"

Lot of three items used by the Nazi party to indoctrinate the German youth into their theories of racial superiority...and inferiority. Includes: a printed canvas-backed color poster, 36" x 26", wood rods at top and bottom, captioned at the bottom: Germany's Races and Those of the Rest of Europe". The poster bears at center the "build of the body" of the "Alpine race". That image is surrounded by profiles and portraits of four other "races", including "Dinaric...Alpine...Gypsy...Jew". The caricature of the Jew used in this image was widely used by the Nazis for such purposes; a second poster, identical configuration and size, shows at center two soldiers in pre-war German military uniforms described as having "Pahlian and Nordic body structures", with the surrounding racial portraits illustrating examples of a "Nordic...Mediterranean...Baltic" features. Both posters were issued by the NSDAP, printed by Schulmann, Stuttgart, 1934. Also: Book, Calendar of the German Youth, 1935, issued by the National Socialist Teachers' Organization (Bamberg: Bamberger Tagblatt, 1935), 304pp. small 8vo. This book was given to German youths by the teachers' organization "to become one with the Fuhrer...to fill yourself with National Socialist feelings...". The book contains a weekly calendar with historical tidbits, chapters on history, Hitler's biography and a history of the NSDAP, runes, the swastika, culture, education, the Hitler Youth, and a chapter devoted to race which illustrates both posters offered in this lot. There is also a chapter devoted to anti-Semitism with a portrait of Julius Streicher, explaining how Jews had betrayed the Germans, etc. etc. Overall very good.
