HISTORY OF THE NEW YORK 22ND REGIMENT, N.G.
A rare war-date Union regimental history, 47pp. hardbound 8vo., entitled: The LAST CAMPAIGN of the TWENTY-SECOND REGIMENT, N. G. S. N. Y. June and July, 1863, C. S. Westcott, No. 79 John Street, NYC, 1864. The unit's trials and tribulations during the campaign are recounted in full and include an almost unknown clash with the rebel infantry at Carlisle, Pennsylvania described here in very small part: "…for the purpose of protecting our flanks, it was requisite that out-lying pickets…should be sent as far out as they could go…the cavalry detailed for that duty refused to perform it…a portion of the artillery was so near that the commands of the officers could be distinctly heard…some time before dawn, preparations were made to receive the attack…the general expectation…was to find the town a heap of ruins…the citizens, concealed in their cellars, and the soldiers lying flat behind cemetery walls and in the fields, had almost entirely escaped the iron tempest…a few of the reserves…suffered heavily; the Thirty-Seventh…had some hurt…". Much more interesting content. Ex-Mollus, Commander of the State of Illinois, very good.

Estimate: $75 - 100.
