In part: "…I had the pleasure of meeting you at the house of Gen'l. Cobb in Marion, Ga and then again at Greensboro, N. C. in the last days of the Confederacy…I am editing a magazine…I write to ask if you would favor us with an article occasionally…I feel no delicacy in saying that we pay 113 per jointed page for all acceptable articles…Hoping that you may succeed in your new enterprise…".
