HIGHLY UNUSUAL CLASSICAL SEWING TABLE.
Probably northeastern Ohio, dated 1830, curly maple and poplar. Two-drawer stand with a turned and carved shaft and folksy legs. A two-step release allows the top to hinge up, revealing a divided interior. Minor imperfections. 31"h. 20 1/4"w. 21 1/4"d. Ex Alfred Mahan (Ohio).

Descended in Ohio family. Family history is written on the underside of the drawer.

Condition: Refinished, minor age cracks, replaced pulls.
Lucy Witbeck Saxton (born in Ohio in1856) was the daughter of Josiah L. Witbeck (born in 1829 in New York) and Ellen E. Richmond (born @ 1837 in Summit County, Ohio). Drawer bottom: Given by Lucy Witlock/Witbeck Saxton? Tallmadge, O. (82 years old) in 1916 to Mrs. Marian Kelley Cleveland, O. The Witlocks/Witbecks came from northern NY State. 12/25/45 A.C.M.
