***Auction Highlight*** 1794 C-2a Liberty Cap half cent 1/2c Graded ms63 bn By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE AUCTION – Up for Auction is an Ultra Rare 1794 Liberty Cap Half Cent, C-2a, Small Letters Variety. Despite heavy clashing on the obverse, this example is the Manly Die State 2.0 a mid die state. It has not yet developed the Die Crack on the top of the RTY of LIBERTY. Though the U.S. Mint struck only copper coins (cents and half cents) in 1793, that facility expanded its repertoire to silver the next year. The emphasis, however, remained on copper coinage, and 1794 brought with it several changes to the half cent manufacturing process. Roger S. Cohen, Jr., in his American Half Cents: The Little Half Sisters, notes that 1794 marked the beginning of hub use in creation of half cent dies, and that half cent planchets, though they maintained the same weight as 1793 flans, had broader diameters and proportionally decreased thicknesses. This attractive, unworn example of the c-2a is pleasingly detailed for the issue with rich chocolate-brown surfaces. Though a few minor abrasions are scattered over each side, no single flaw is worthy of individual of note. The overall eye appeal is surprisingly strong for the grade assigned. The reverse has some tantalizing original color throughout. The example is clearly in the top few surviving. I have included two other ms63 Examples for your comparison. I think you will agree that ours has better overall eye appeal and less abrasions. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
