OF PRAGUE. Cal. 48. NSN. George Tirlinger is listed in Heer, "Der Neue Stockel" as working between 1730 & 1771. This really well made pistol has 9 1/8" faceted to rnd. bbl. w/ maker's name & "Prague" on raised top rib. Bbl. tang engraved "1". Rnd. bodied & arched lock is fitted w/ rnd. bodied serpentine hammer, inset rounded pan & unbridled frizzen w/ nicely filed feather spring having delicate spear finial. Tail of lock w/ teat has some scroll engraving w/ in a sm. scroll border. Area under pan engraved w/ maker's name & "Prague". Walnut stock extends to muzzle w/ horn tip & is pinned to bbl. There are raised carved fields around all iron mts., including trigger guard w/ fancy raised spear finial, bulbous spurred butt cap w/ dbl. boss, nicely filed & shaped sideplate & ramrod channel w/ beaded pipe & tailpipe. CONDITION: good to fine. Metal parts cleaned to gray/brown patina. Stock w/ most of an old refinish, has numerous marks overall & w/ considerable chipping of wood around butt cap. Mechanically good.
