PISTOLS BY HOLLIS & SHEATH. Cal. 42. NSN. Bbls. 9" oct. twist, stamped w/ Birmingham black powder proofs & “H&S” on bottoms. There are no markings visible on pistols when assembled. Case hardened breeches have some scroll engraving & are unvented. Breech irons have integral rear sights. Case hardened back spring locks fitted w/ flat faced serpentine hammers having dolphin heads & are lightly scroll engraved. Walnut stocks extend to muzzles & have checkered bag grips. Trigger guards w/ stylized pineapple finials are blued. Set triggers are fitted. Stocks attach to bbls. w/ single side bolts through oval silver escutcheons. Ebony ramrods w/ silver heads & brass tails mount through ring turned, case hardened thimbles. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: pistols are housed in mahogany case w/ fancy inlet brass medallion on top. Case is lined in purple velvet & has reproduction Hollis & Sheath label in lid. Bottom portion is French fitted for pistols & accessories which include; copper bodied powder flask embossed w/ eagles, ebony & brass loading road & an ebony handled nipple wrench. There are three covered compartments w/ bone knobs. One holding cast balls, the other w/ patches & a spare nipple. Central compartment holds steel nutcracker type ball mold marked “65”. CONDITION: very fine. Pistols retaining over 90% original factory finishes on all surfaces except trigger guards on which the blue has considerably flaked w/ only traces remaining. Surfaces are presently gray to brown. Bores are bright & shiny. Locks crisp. Triggers set. Case retains nearly all of its original finish w/ scattered numerous marks & scratches & 4 1/2" crack in top at rear. Interior cloth is very good w/ compressions, marks & rubs.
