(1900 - 1945) Hitler's Chief of the SS, placed in charge of security and responsible for the construction and operation of extermination camps. He chose suicide rather than face a hangman's noose at Nuremburg. HIMMLER THANKS ROMMEL FOR A COPY OF HIS "INFANTRY ATTACKS" T.L.S. "H. Himmler", on official letterhead, 1p. 4to., Berlin, Feb. 14, 1937, to ERWIN ROMMEL (1891-1944), thanking him for sending him an advance copy of Rommel's book on World War I infantry tactics, "Infanterie greift an" ("Infantry Attacks"). In part: "Greetings Herr Lt. Colonel! Thank you kindly for sending me your nearly published work 'Infantry Attacks'. I shall read it with the greatest interest." Two chips at left margin, which have been patched with cello tape on the verso. Very good. Includes a 1941 edition of "Infanterie greift an" (Potsdam: Ludwig Voggenreiter Verlag), 400pp. 8vo.
