BREUER OF WEISSENBERG. Cal. 60. NSN. Bbl. 35 1/2" Heavy octagonal, appears to have been realigned & is now approx. 60 caliber (.620 grooved diameter). Bbl. measures 1.41" across flats at muzzle & 1.55" at breech end. Bbl. is sighted w/ elevation adj. deep U notch rear & windage adj. post front. Maker's name is inlaid in silver on rear top flat. Patent breech & breech iron are nicely scroll engraved & letter "R" is inlaid in silver on tang. Lock & hammer are engraved w/ matching shaded scroll. Triggers are double set. European walnut stock is German silver mounted, extends to muzzle w/ horn cap & has a broad iron hook at muzzle end for bench resting block. False ramrod is in German silver pipes. Trigger guard has scrolled grip & is engraved en suite w/ lock. German silver buttplate has hole at heel to receive bullet starting rod. Right hand shadow line cheekpiece is relief carved w/ acanthus scroll. Checkering at grip is flat topped w/ fancy borders w/ carved scroll intrusions. Weight is 18 lbs. CONDITION: good, bbl. reblued, other iron parts mottled gray patina. Wood w/ old oil refinish w/ numerous dents & marks is sound. Checkering worn, German silver hardware has been lightly cleaned. Bore is lightly pitted w/ strong rifling. Lock & triggers work. An interesting high quality rifle. (01-18079/MGM13). ANTIQUE. $1,250-2,000.
