1152A. WILLIAM RANDOLPH HEARST (1863 - 1951) American newspaper publisher who built circulation using sensational reporting and helped give rise to the era of "yellow journalism". Striking S.P. 10 1/2" x 13" b/w, a chest-up photograph of the publishing magnate staring into the camera. Inscribed at the top right: "To Senator George W. Malone of Nevada from William Randoph Hearst" Malone was elected as a Republican in 1946 and served in the Senate from 1947-1959. He was once quoted as saying regarding the United Nations: "I believe that if the people of this nation fully understood what Congress has done to them over the last 49 years, they would move on Washington; they would not wait for an election ... It adds up to a preconcieved plan to de-stroy the economic and social independence of the United States!" With embosed photographer's stamp at bottom right. Trimmed, signature and inscription light but still legible, otherwise very good condition.$400-600
