(1901 - 1990) Australia-American union leader organizing longshoremen on the West Coast, Hawaii and Alaska in into the International Longshore and Warehouse Union. Prosecuted by the U.S. government during the 30s and 40s and convicted by a federal jury of having lying about his membership in the Communist Party which the Supreme Court overturned in 1953. S.P. 8" x 10" b/w chest-up portrait of Bridges in a checker suit. Signed in the lighter portion of the piece at right. Fine condition.
