HARRISON-MORTON INAUGURATION RIBBON. A huge "Inaugural Souvenir" with light-blue fringe. This is one celebration we would have loved to attend. At Harrison's inaugural ball, more than 12,000 guests enjoyed a menu that included "blue points in ice, bouillon in cups, steamed oysters, oysters a la poulette, chicken croquettes, sweetbread pate' a la reine, and terrapin Philadelphia style. The cold foods were assorted roll sandwiches, mayonnaise of chicken, lobster salad, cold tongue en Bellevue, Cold ham a la Montmorency, boned turkey a la Americaine, bread of quail a la Ciceron, pate de fois gras a la Harrison, terrine of game a la Morton. The desserts were assorted ice cream, orange water ice, Roman punch, pyramid of nougat renaissance, beehive of bon-bons Republican, Pavilion Rustic and assorted fancy cakes. Fruits, other desserts, and coffee were also available." Light wrinkles, minor mounting stain at top, cataloged by Sullivan/Fischer as BH-1889-11.
