HARRISON, GEORGE
374A. GEORGEHARRISON (1943 - 2001) Guitarist, singer and songwriter with the Beatles, author of many of the band's best known songs including "Something", "If I Needed Someone," "Taxman," "Here Comes the Sun," and many more. Harrison is well-documented as the pioneer of incorporating Indian music and droning sounds into Western pop, including many Beatles hits, and his psychedelic and spiritual influence on modern songwriting is widely considered to be ahead of it's time. A wonderful association piece, a 12" x 12" gatefold LP record sleeve with bound-in picture booklet for the soundtrack to the 1971 film "Raga" featuring RAVI SHANKAR,released by Apple Records. The album features a variety of Shankar's works and performances and was re-produced for disc by Harrison who also plays on the album. Signed and inscribed nicely in marker by Harrison at upper left of front cover "To Gerry, best wishes George Harrison". Cover also signed at right by Shankar in the same marker, in his inimitably large swirling hand "Ravi Shankar". Record included, in very good condition with some surface scuffs. Shankar's signature is just a tad light. Rear sleeve split slightly at top. Front cover bears a few minor defects, but is in overall very good condition.$300-500
