Cal. 54. S# 327. Bbl. 10 1/16" brown w/ smoothbore & small brass sight. Left side of bbl. has eagle’s head proof followed by “U.S.” & number “327”. Harpers Ferry marked lock dated 1807. American eagle over U.S. is forward of hammer. Wedge fastened stock. Left side has clear V/CW cartouche. Brass fittings consist of butt cap, trigger guard, side plate, forearm tip band & thimble. Hardwood ramrod is held on iron under rib by a single faceted pipe. Total of 4,096 mfg. 1806-1808, and estimated 2,580 were dated 1807. First U.S. military handgun made at a national armory. CONDITION: very good. Metal has a cleaned appearance showing scattered spots of corrosion. Brass has a mild aged patina. Wood has good finish showing scattered scratches & marks. Sound lock. Lightly pitted bore. (01-23074/DS). ANTIQUE. $4,000-6,000.
