M'Creery, 1804FIRST (?ONLY) EDITION, pages 154 ; 124, 8vo, contemporary calf, gilt ruled spine, with label, gilt : the spine damaged, but the binding strong and otherwise a very good copy.Presumably a work of fiction, but not found in the usual sources. The accompanying comedy, `found amongst Montford's papers and written before any of the events related in the preceding pages took place', is not included in Nicoll. In 1818 he superintended the production of Maturin's unsuccessful tragedy 'Fredolpho'. In 1824 his ediorship of the 'Literary Souvenir' brought him into contact with a circle of friends which included Scott, Wordsworth, Coleridge and Mrs Hemans. He later founded the 'United Services Gazette' and issued the first volume of the influential 'Men of the Time'.
