HANDPAINTED FIBER BOARD ANTIQUE RAILROAD SIGN FOR

THE FRANKLIN AND MEGANTIC RAILWAY, CARRABASSETT TO STRONG (MAINE). Black lettering on a tan background, which notes Franklin and Megantic Railway, Carrabassett to Strong. It has a large, bold signature, R. H. Winslow. In small letters below is CTA and large numbers, 822. This is the T-6M Carrabassett to Strong. Franklin Megantic Railway was built in 1884, running from Strong, Maine to Kingfield, Maine. In 1894, the rails were extended 14.5 miles to Carrabassett, formerly known as Drew’s Mills. In 1900 the rails were extended to Bigelow, Maine near the present entrance to Sugarloaf USA. In 1908 the FLM RR merged with Sandy River RR, Phillips, Rangeley, Madrid and Eustis RR from Sandy River, Rangeley Lake RR. The fiber board sign is framed in some old, weathered barn boards. SIZE: 15” w x 29-3/4” h (including the frame). CONDITION: lettering and coloring is still very strong. There is a small piece missing from the lower right hand corner. (05-232/JJ). $500-700.
