<B>HALF STOCK PERCUSSION PLAINS RIFLE.</B></I> Circa 1850s. 27 ½” octagon barrel in .43 calibre. No visible marking. Back action lock is engraved. Brass butt plate, toe plate and scrolled trigger guard. Double set triggers function. Walnut stock is decorated with tacks at the butt end and a long rawhide wrap on forestock extending onto the barrel for about 4”. Rawhide wrap and tacks have been applied after the rifle experienced the majority of its actual use. Ramrod secured to underside of barrel by one iron ferrel.<BR><BR><B>Condition:</B></I>All metal components have turned naturally to a dark brown to black color. Brass butt plate and trigger guard black with age.
