He accompanied Frank Reaugh on his sketching caravans to West Texas in 1916 and 1917.

This pastel, using the Frank Reaugh Method, was likely done in 1916, when Bolton was working part of the year in California. It is unsigned, but bears the stamp "Lawrence Bolton, Organist, Bush Temple of Music, Dallas." It is believed Lawrence Bolton was the brother of Hale Bolton. The connection appears even more likely in that Hale Bolton was also a musician and piano/organ tuner, who worked for the Jessee French Piano and Organ Company, the largest piano and organ retailer in the Dallas area.

Condition Report: Excellent condition.
