Prolific British novelist (1856-1925) best known for such adventure fare as King Solomon's Mines and Allan Quatermain. ALS, two pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.5 x 7, Ditchingham House, Norfolk letterhead, April 9, 1906. Handwritten letter to Ms. McLaren, in part: “I send this line to say that I am leaving London & that the above is my permanent address whenever it is wished to communicate with me re the Coast Defence Commission. I have not sent Mr. Lloyd…the book (Rural England) as the new edition is not yet out.” In fine condition. Haggard was involved in reforming agriculture and was a member of many commissions on land use and related affairs, work that involved several trips to the Colonies and Dominions. It eventually led to the passage of the 1909 Development Bill.
