H. P. Lovecraft and August Derleth -- The Lurker
<B>H. P. Lovecraft and August Derleth -- "The Lurker at the Threshold," Signed First Edition (Arkham House, 1945).</B></I> Here's something to make weird fiction fans drool! August Derleth was a young contemporary and friend of H. P. Lovecraft, who completed this tale and published it eight years after Lovecraft's death. Derleth and author Donald Wandrei founded Arkham House in 1939 to keep the late author's stories in print and his name from falling into obscurity. This copy is signed "With best wishes for a properly weird Christmas -- Sincerely, August Derleth, 1945." In Very Good condition, the dust jacket exhibits some moderate wear and soiling along the edges and has a 3/4-inch tear and a 1 1/2-inch tear at the top and bottom of the front jacket, respectively. There are also remnants of tape and a glassine cover on the inside of the front and back boards and interior jacket. Still, a very tight copy with clean, white pages, from a print run of about 3,000 copies.
