H. H. "Hap" Arnold Autograph on a 1937 typed letter on War Department, Office of the chief of the Air Corps letterhead stationery in which he thanks Cliff Henderson (Managing Director of the National Air Races) for a copy of the deluxe edition of the "Official directory and Log of the Races". He has signed the letter as Brig. Gen, Air Corps, Acting Chief of the Air Corps. Hap Arnold was a man ahead of his time. He was a champion of the aircraft carrier as a launching area for airplanes and strongly urged that development of aircraft carriers be budgeted. The Navy felt that the money should go into battleships. The Navy won and Arnold was court martialed and left the Army. He was proven right at Pearl Harbor in 1941. Estimate: $ 150 - 250
