H. Gibbs Marked Half-Stock Percussion Large Caliber Rifle
This percussion coveted rifle features fixed sights on a barrel marked "H. GIBBS / LANCASTER PA" on the top flat. In AMERICAN GUNSMITHS, firearms expert Frank Sellers lists two Henry Gibbs (father and son) who worked in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The lock plate is engraved behind the hammer and is marked "LONDON / WARRANTED" in front of the hammer. The reverse plate, spur trigger guard, ramrod pipes, forend cap, stock wedges, and buttplate are brass. Double set triggers and mounted with a smooth half-stock with two stock wedges and crescent buttplate.

Condition: Fair. The rifle has a smooth brown patina with minor flash pitting. The barrel has a smooth brown patina with some scattered shallow dents and minor pitting. The brass is fine. The stock is good with some minor handling marks and a hairline cracks (near the toe). Mechanically needs work.
