H. Gibbs Half-Stock Percussion Rifle
Combination beach front sight and a dovetail slot in front of the replacement Winchester style ladder rear sight on a barrel marked "H. GIBBS / LANCASTER / PA". Light floral engraved hammer and lock plate with "H. GIBBS" marked upside down on the lock plate. The forend cap, trigger guard, patch box, and buttplate are brass with the light floral engraving extended to the patch box and trigger guard. Half-stock has a checkered wrist, raised cheekpiece, and a crescent buttplate. In AMERICAN GUNSMITHS, firearms expert Frank Sellers lists two Henry Gibbs (father and son) who worked in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Condition: Very good. The barrel has a smooth brown patina with some light spotting. The action has a smooth gray patina and the brass has an even aged patina. Replacement bolster. The stock is good with wood missing from the forearm (right side), a couple hairline cracks, and a series of minor pressure dents on the buttstock (left side), along with some minor handling marks. Overall the checkering is crisp.
