Guy Carleton, Commander-in-Chief of British forces during the American Revolution, autograph note signed. Dated 3 July 1748, Carleton writes, ''Received from the Magazine of Grave thirty two rations of hay and oats for the bread Waggoners with Lord Torrington. Guy Carleton.'' The year of signing Carleton was stationed in Flanders fighting the Dutch after the War of the Austrian Succession. 7.5'' x 2.75'' note has been torn from a full page and is annotated in pencil. Some edgewear and small pinholes. Overall very good condition.
