GUTENBERG AND THE CATHOLICON OF 1460. A Bibliographic Essay by Margaret Bingham Stillwell, Together with an Original Leaf of the Catholicon. New York: Edmond Byrne Hackett (The Brick Row Book Shop, Inc.), 1936. Large folio (17 x 12 5/16 in.). Blindstamped red cloth over beveled corner wood, gilt title, integral frame at back with book leaf under plastic sheet, secured by metal slides; bound by Krumin, Boston. The volume in a thick burgundy morocco-grained paper jacket, with a matching board slipcase. The manuscript leaf has two columns of gothic type with red initials. Good. Cloth cover and gilt clean and bright; small area of dampstaining to lower left corner of cover, which has left a red mark on the inside of the dust jacket. Slipcase has some edgewear. Toning and foxing to endpapers, and last few pages. The manuscript leaf is toned and foxed.
