He founded a free school of music for the poor, the Conservatoire Populaire de Mimi Pinson, wrote dramatic and choral works, and composed both the music and libretti for the operas Louise and Julien. AMQS on the reverse of a vintage 5.5 x 4 glossy photo of Charpentier. The composer pens four bars of music and lyrics from his opera Louise, signing underneath, “Gustave Charpentier 2/62.” Charpentier has also signed and inscribed the image side of the photo. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. A bit of scattered light soiling to quote side, trimmed edges, and light creasing and surface marks to image side, otherwise fine condition.
