He founded a free school of music for the poor, the Conservatoire Populaire de Mimi Pinson, wrote dramatic and choral works, and composed both the music and libretti for the operas Louise and Julien. Vintage 7 x 9 photo of the composer printed on a book page, signed and inscribed in French, “a Monsieur Mante, En souvenier of la Premiere Representatione of Louise a Bordeaux, Gustave Charpentier, 1901.” Rough edges, a uniform shade of toning, and light, scattered light creasing and foxing, otherwise fine condition.
